Why SMI? The Bueltmanns find comfort knowing members are able to help

Member Spotlight: Kevin and Tawn Bueltmann of Shepherd's Canyon serve pastors and others in need of help, hope, and healing.

Kevin and Tawn Bueltmann have enjoyed being Samaritan members so much that they are starting to provide memberships for their full-time staffers at Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat Ministry in Arizona.

“We had heard about it for years but had health insurance when we were with our church in Montana,” Tawn said. “When we moved here to Arizona, we didn’t have anything and were on our own, and so we chose to join Samaritan Ministries, and we’re very grateful. Now our ministry is starting to pay for our full-time workers to be a part of Samaritan.”

The couple is personally comforted knowing Samaritan members are able to help when they have a qualifying medical need. They have received support from other Samaritan members in the past—Kevin with a history of kidney stones, and Tawn with a diagnosis of glaucoma.

“It’s just so encouraging,” Tawn said. “You know, we send out money and say prayers, and then when it was our turn to submit a need, it was nice to be on that end of it and be encouraged. It just reminds you the Body of Christ is large, and the Body of Christ will so willingly pray for you and support you.”

“It’s a blessing to give, but also a blessing to receive,” Kevin added.

The two appreciate Samaritan’s promotion of wholesome health care and health care freedom through Samaritan members sharing each other’s medical needs.“We don’t have to put our money toward secular values, but we can support the Body of Christ in a biblical way,” Tawn said.
