Why SMI? Robyn Lieber saw how well it worked

Member Spotlight: Robyn Lieber of Sweet Like Honey

Sweet Like Honey founder Robyn Lieber’s husband, Harlan, joined Samaritan Ministries before she did. Once she saw members’ checks start coming in for his 2016 back surgery, she joined, too.

“We saw how it worked, and receiving these checks in the mail from individuals from other states was just amazing,” she said. “I can’t remember exactly, but it was something like 54 checks that we got from people, and we just decided then that I should join as well.”

Harlan is self-employed and had heard about Samaritan through a radio ad. At that point Robyn was on her then-employer’s insurance.

“We originally had individual policies,” she said. “He had his, and I had mine, and they were becoming so outrageous as far as price per month, and then the coverage wasn’t that good, and we were having to pay a lot out of pocket.”

Robyn said that although Harlan joined Samaritan, she kept her insurance because she had to have a knee replacement.

“When I had it replaced and we still had to pay like $6,000 out of pocket, it really wasn’t the best idea,” she said. “So, then I became a Samaritan member.”

Since then, the couple has experienced Samaritan members helping them pay for medical needs. And she tells everyone she knows about how great the ministry is.

“It’s such a good fit because it seems so personal,” she said. “When I have a question, I know I am going to talk to a real person and they’re going to say, ‘Can I pray for you?’ It’s so personal.

“I am glad my husband listens to the radio because I had never heard of Samaritan,” Robyn added. “But the Lord knows what He’s doing.”
