Why SMI? Insurance was costly, didn't align with the Millers' beliefs

Britt and Sherry Miller began reviewing their options for health care when the Affordable Care Act took effect in 2010. Owners of a family construction business, the company could no longer afford to pay employee and family health insurance coverage.

They agreed that the ACA plan was costly, inefficient, and did not align with their beliefs. Public health care plans were another option and one they were onboard with for a time, but still, the cost was high, and the coverage was compromised.

“That is when friends, and consequently board members, referred us to Samaritan Ministries,” Sherry said. “We researched several other health care sharing ministries and Samaritan came out on top.”

The Millers have been Samaritan members since 2014.

“It has been a joy to share with others in need as well as supporting the Member Assistance Fund each month,” Sherry said. “Praise God, our needs have been few but fully shared each time by our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.”

“And we have that confidence and faith that should we have another need, we wouldn’t expect anything different,” Britt added.
