Why SMI? Finding affordable health care ‘almost impossible’

When Ginger and Joel Millermon embarked on their ministry, they needed health care.

Finding affordable health care became “almost impossible” for the Millermons as they worked to reach out to burdened women with the Gospel, through song, writing, and conferences.

On a visit to Liberty Bible Church in Eureka, Illinois, though, LBC pastor Tom Zobrist urged the family to look into Samaritan. They did and joined in 2011.

It was well-timed. The Millermons have had several needs since joining, needs that have been met through Samaritan members.

“It’s been wonderful for us,” Ginger says. “Members have been very quick and timely getting funds to us when we have health needs.”

If she fills out something wrong on a form, Samaritan member advocates are “quick to call and nicely help me get it right.”

Spending time in prayer with an advocate when she does call in is a bonus, too, she says.

The Millermons also like to be able to lift other members up in prayer through information on share slips and the Prayer Guide.

“Our share this past month went to a family who had lost a child,” Ginger says.

“We appreciate having that opportunity to be able to pray for them, having really kind of been there in our family at one point,” she adds, referring to her son Jarrott’s medical challenges in the first four years of his life.
