Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who thus hopes in Him purifies himself as He is pure.
1 John 3:2-3
What do you think of when you think of God? What do you think He is like? Our thoughts about God are probably the most important thing that can be known about us, because we tend to become like what we think God is like. As the passage above says, when we see Him as He is, we will be like Him.
We need to search God’s Word to learn to know Him better. We need to prayerfully examine our thoughts about Him to see which of our ideas need to change.
One day He will appear, and when He does we will finally be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is. In the meantime, since we have this hope, we will purify ourselves because we see His purity.
