The Doorpost: The Word must be part of everything

By Ray King  ·  Jan 02, 2013

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.
Deuteronomy 11:18-21

Take time to compare the two passages above and think about what they say. Moses is describing the life and home of someone who loves the Lord our God with all his heart, soul and strength.

God’s Word must be in our hearts. It must be part of everything we do. We are to teach His Word to our children and talk about it in every event of life starting when we first get up in the morning until we go to bed at night. We need to talk about God’s Word when we’re at home and when we’re away from home.

Here at Samaritan Ministries International, w are trying to build this attitude into what we do. We want God’s Word to guide our day-to-day decisions as we serve you and to be an essential part of the ministry.

Let’s all pray for each other that we would fix God’s Word in our hearts and that it would be part of everything we do.
