The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who orders his way rightly
I will show the salvation of God!”
Psalm 50:23
What is the most important sacrifice or service we can offer to God? Our actions are an indicator of what we believe.
Earlier in this Psalm God makes it clear that He does not need anything. Everything in the world is His. When we give anything to Him, we are only giving what already belongs to Him.
Throughout Scripture we learn that offering thanks to God is our most important sacrifice. A lack of thankfulness is the primary characteristic of people who turn away from God and pursue lives of futility (Romans 1: 21). Giving thanks in everything is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
