The Doorpost: No one is more powerful than Jesus

… having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 1:18-23
God has used this passage to increase my estimation of the power He uses to work in and through us. It is the same power He used to raise Christ from the dead.
But it doesn’t stop there. He not only raised Him from the dead; He seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Name any nation or army in world history. Name any great leader. Name any tyrant. Jesus Christ has more power. He has far more power. He has far more power than Barack Obama, far more power than the U.S. government, far more power than the U.S. military. There is nothing that can even come close to the power of Jesus Christ. And that is the power that God is using to work in and through us.
The passage goes on to say that God gave Jesus to us, the Church. He is the head. We are His body. He is the One who fills all in all. We, His body, are the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Are we living by this truth?
Paul prayed for the Ephesians that God would give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. He prayed that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened so they could know all of this.
Let’s pray this for each other. The more we understand the power of what He has done, the more we will be obedient in using that great power for His glory.
