In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in heaven.

We should not shrink back from obeying Jesus Christ, even when it is difficult or others might oppose us. We should not try to avoid having others find out about our faith. We should let our lights shine before others.

At the same time, in Matthew 6 Jesus warns us not to practice our righteousness before men with the intent of receiving their praise. When we seek glory for ourselves, any praise we may get from others is the only reward we will ever receive.

We should not hide our obedience to Jesus Christ, but our desire should be that when others see what we do, they will give glory to our Father in heaven.
