The Doorpost: Jesus is the only way

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

In John 15:7-8, Jesus tells His disciples, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples.” That is the only way we can produce anything that is real.

There are many “vines” we can put our trust in to seek a fruitful life. There is only One Vine Who can produce in us anything that lasts—Jesus. Anyone or anything else produces nothing of value, no matter how fervently we may believe, or how much effort we may expend. Our only hope is remaining connected to Jesus.
