The Doorpost: Proverbs tells us to not give way before the wicked

Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.
Proverbs 25:26
Most Christians would agree that our culture is polluted. We see the evidence in our media, our entertainment industry, and our government.
But what is the reason for this?
The passage above says that when the righteous give way before the wicked, it is the righteous who are like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain. If we, God’s people, do not persist in contending for righteousness, we become useless and repulsive.
By faith, we Christians need to stand together for righteousness in our culture, even if it is inconvenient, difficult, risky, or seemingly futile. Wickedness should not prevail in our culture because we believers don’t care enough to oppose it or have given up.
Do we care for Truth as much as others care for falsehood?
