SMF, SMI team up to encourage Scripture memorization
By Mike Miller · Jul 22, 2013
Samaritan Ministries and Scripture Memory Fellowship started a program in June to encourage SMI’s social media followers on Twitter and Facebook to memorize Scripture. Each Monday we post a verse for Scripture memorization that week. We’re currently memorizing verses about praise.
You can see all of the Memory Monday verses that we’ve posted so far on our Pinterest board.
Scripture Memory Fellowship director and Samaritan Ministries member Jim Woychuk also offers these tips to help memorizing Scripture:
- Have an accountability structure. Memorizers are encouraged to line up another person to recite to.
- Rewards, especially valued by young people. These can be books or games. While some object to this aspect of the program, saying memorizing Scripture is its own reward, Jim says that it’s helpful “to have something to look forward to.”
- A plan. You can go the route of SMF’s memory booklets on different topics, or try the Memory Mondays.
