Save money on routine preventive practices with New Benefits

You now have access, as a Samaritan Ministries member, to discounts on quality lab testing, diagnostic imaging, and chiropractic services through New Benefits Ltd.

Using lab and imaging services can help you stay on top of health issues and receive a better diagnosis, get a better treatment plan, and have a better recovery.

“Taking time for preventive health care with labs and diagnostic imaging can have an impact,” said Felicia Joubert, strategic relations manager at Samaritan Ministries.

In addition, seeing a chiropractor can help to not only fix problems but also to prevent them by keeping your body properly aligned.

To access your New Benefits Ltd. account, sign into your Samaritan Dashboard and then click on the Health Resources tab. Sign in to your Member Portal under the New Benefits section or sign up if you haven’t already. As a Samaritan member, you have free access to New Benefits. Premium offerings are also available at an additional cost.

Lab testing

Discounts for lab testing come through New Benefits courtesy of DirectLabs. (The lab discounts are not available in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.) Members can save 10% to 80% on the typical costs for lab work.

It’s quick and convenient because you do not need a doctor’s order to purchase lab tests. To order lab tests online, log in via New Benefits mobile app or web portal. Select Lab Testing, then Order Labs. You will be redirected to DirectLabs where you can submit your lab request.

Lab tests available to order include:

• allergies
• vitamin levels
• cholesterol levels
• liver function
• fertility
• thyroid issues

You can choose from more than 1,500 major clinical laboratories nationwide, and once completed, confidential lab results will be ready as soon as 24 hours for most tests. DirectLabs also offers monthly specials for additional savings on tests.

Diagnostic imaging

More affordable diagnostic imaging is made available to you through New Benefits courtesy of RadiologyAssist and ColonoscopyAssist. Rather than opting for the closest diagnostic imaging center, you can make a quick phone call to save on your scans and colonoscopies. (Certain imaging services may not be available in all geographic locations.)

Through RadiologyAssist and ColonoscopyAssist, you can save money and time with access to pre-negotiated discounted rates. Qualifying services with RadiologyAssist include:

• MRIs
• CT scans
• ultrasounds
• X-rays
• mammograms
• gastroenterology services
• lab tests

You will be referred to a certified technician based on condition, preferences, and location. The median cost per MRI is $301.

Qualifying services with ColonoscopyAssist include:

• colonoscopies
• upper endoscopies
• hemorrhoid banding
• Cologuard
• FIT/FOBT

ColonoscopyAssist gives a flat rate so there are no surprise bills down the road. The single bill issued includes physician fees, facility or hospital fees, sedation or anesthesia costs, polyp removal, biopsies, and pathology costs.

“These types of orders are typically made by physicians on behalf of members and can be very costly,” Felicia said. “However, New Benefits Ltd. provides resources all members can order for their entire household without the cost of visiting a physician.”

Chiropractic

You may want to see a chiropractor to keep your body aligned properly as a preventive measure or to treat improper alignment. Either way, New Benefits discounts will help you keep the cost down.

The offerings include 30% to 50% savings on X-rays, diagnostic services, and treatments. More than 3,000 chiropractors nationwide participate. The savings include:

• free initial consultation
• 50% off diagnostic services and X-rays performed on site
• 30% off treatments and other services
• There is no limit to the number of visits at which you may use the discount.

You should notify the provider when you make the appointment that you are a member of UHS Chiropractic (a New Benefits network), then show your virtual or printed card with the UHS Chiropractic logo, available through the New Benefits website and app, so you can pay the discounted rate at the time of service.

You can see if your chiropractor participates in UHS by clicking on the “Find a Provider” button on the New Benefits app or website, or by calling New Benefits Member Support at (800) 800-7616. If your chiropractor is not a member of UHS Chiropractic network, you can recommend them through the app, on the New Benefits website, or by calling Member Support.
