Samaritan membership means medical freedom, avoiding insurance hassles
By Samaritan Ministries members · May 04, 2026
I joined Samaritan Ministries in the spring of 2020, and every day it is such a blessing to be part of this network of believers praying for one another and financially sharing in each other’s medical expenses. The freedom in being part of Samaritan Ministries to choose providers without network restrictions and being a cash-pay patient has made a tremendous difference in being able to receive timely care and avoiding the medical musical chairs so many of my insured friends experience.

Member sees God working in the midst of injury
In the midst of my unexpected injury, I knew God was with me. My direct care doctor gave a referral to an orthopedic practice that straight away gave discounts. They had wonderful care and a well-trained hand surgeon. My dominant hand was injured, and, for about a month, the use of my hand was limited. How I missed knitting! My surgery was in September. By the end of December, all the bills were paid—the surgery center put me on a payment plan, and the funds were provided to finish those payments, too. I’m grateful for the kind notes and prayers from fellow members.

Blessing to share in others' needs
We are so grateful for Samaritan Ministries. It has been a blessing to share in others’ needs. It is much more fulfilling to send checks to other believers who are walking with Christ instead of to a large insurance company. Our needs have always been met, and we have never worried that they will not be. The Lord is good, and we are grateful for this ministry.

'We had the freedom to choose'
The Christian model of health care is absolutely the best of my experience.
When I was diagnosed with cervical degenerative disc disease this past April, I was faced with decisions regarding surgery or therapy. Samaritan’s representative was wonderful. She prayed with me and provided perspective and insight. We prayed with our family and decided to take the therapy. What I loved was that we had the freedom to choose, knowing that Samaritan members would help with expenses either way. I cannot be more pleased with how “everything has worked together for good.”
The notes and checks were a blessing that encouraged us and helped set things right financially. I hope that someday ministry sharing will be the normal path for health care. It is truly the best!

Without knowing about Samaritan, 'we would be in medical debt'
I’ve been a member of Samaritan Ministries for four years now. Since joining, so many medical expenses have been shared:
- maternity bills
- my newborn’s cleft cheek surgery
- broken arm
- mold toxicity
- my baby’s ER visit for pneumonia
- my daughter’s airway expansion, which is radically changing her life (no more chronic sickness and allergies)
If my friend hadn’t mentioned Samaritan to us, we would be in medical debt. This ministry is a Godsend.
Thank you to everyone doing the Lord’s work behind the scenes. Thank you for leading with wisdom, integrity, and discernment. Thank you for fighting for our family and all of the members at Samaritan.

Samaritan members were there for her
I have been a member of Samaritan Ministries since 2013 and never had a need until 2026. I appreciate SMI members being there for me and have received my first two Shares for my glaucoma need. Thank you so much. I also appreciate being able to receive care from the provider of my choice. I am a chiropractic physician and have provided services for some patients who are also members of SMI who have stayed at my center, and their needs have been shared. I have appreciated that, as insurance usually does not cover my services. May God bless you all and give you wisdom on the best way to operate.
