Samaritan member directed to low-cost, quality health care through Healthcare Bluebook

Healthcare Bluebook is a service provided through the Health Resource Center on our member Dashboard. Samaritan members can use it for free as part of their membership to find lower prices for procedures, helping to keep our monthly Share amount low.

Recently, HCBB shared this Samaritan member's message with us, a great example of how it can save patients money while directing them to quality health care.

As a self-paying patient, I was referred to Healthcare Bluebook by Samaritan Ministries. My doctor had ordered an MRI and suggested a place local to his office (perfectly understandable) and their price was already in the "Fair" zone ($1,000). However, at the top of the filtered list, in accordance with the lowest price, I found another place that charged $750, a $250 savings right off the bat—but they also offered two more money-saving options: Pay $150 up front and break up the remaining balance into monthly payments, OR pay the whole thing up front and save another $50, making the final payment $600. So I saved $400 by simply making a phone call. Ka-BOOM! I can't imagine not using HB after this. Maintaining good healthcare and saving money is what I'm into. Yessirree!”
