Reviews: 'Chris Beat Cancer: A Comprehensive Plan for Healing Naturally'

“Cancer” may be the most frightening word in the English language.

The standard protocols to conquer this alarming illness are surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation—or a combination of the three—but are there alternatives?

“Absolutely,” writes author Chris Wark in his 2018 book Chris Beat Cancer: A Comprehensive Plan for Healing Naturally (Hay House).

The book begins with Wark’s own story. He was diagnosed with colon cancer and operated on at age 26. Doctors told him he needed nine to 12 months of chemotherapy to prevent a recurrence.

Listening to his instincts, however, he decided to forgo chemo and change his lifestyle. He has remained healthy and cancer-free and also launched his website as well as podcasts and other resources on holistic healing and prevention.

The book shares his personal journey and lifts the cover on the medical industry and the role pharmaceutical companies play in driving modern medicine. With well-researched documentation to back him up, Wark points out how medicine is focused on treating symptoms, not root causes. Our American lifestyle contributes greatly to the diseases we face today. Certainly, there are some uncontrollable factors, such as the environment, but obesity, smoking, drinking, stress, anxiety, and our sedentary ways are huge factors with cancer. The statistics on sickness and disease are alarming, and unless we make some gradual to serious changes, more Americans will suffer with cancer.

But Wark does not leave us stuck with bad news. The good news is that you can make the necessary lifestyle changes to turn things around—especially if you are dealing with cancer right now. The rest of the book focuses on a comprehensive plan for natural healing, including food menus.

As a Christ-follower, Wark has a specific chapter on spiritual healing. He selected Proverbs 3:7-8 to open the chapter: “Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.” In the words of the author, “Cancer forced me to step out in faith and trust God in a way that I never had before. … Cancer threatened to cut my life short, and I knew I needed help from above. My faith and my relationship with God were a huge part of my healing journey.”

Other books by Wark include Beat Cancer Kitchen: Deliciously Simple Plant-Based Anticancer Recipes and Beat Cancer Daily: 365 Days of Inspiration, Encouragement, and Action Steps to Survive and Thrive.

Chris Beat Cancer is an excellent resource not only for dealing with cancer from a holistic angle, but also for ways to prevent it. It is well worth the investment.
