Here are reviews of three recent books by members of Samaritan Ministries.

The Jesus Storybook Bible

There is no shortage of bibles for kids on the market today—books that attempt to put the bible into a language kids can understand. But there is one that stands out among them. In The Jesus Storybook Bible, New York Times best-selling author Sally Lloyd-Jones has taken 44 stories from both the Old and New Testaments and has retold them in such a way that shows the reader how “each story whispers His name.”

In celebration of its 10th year, a gift edition of The Jesus Storybook Bible was released earlier this year and is available wherever books are sold. Having sold over 2.5 million copies and translated into more than 30 languages, The Jesus Storybook Bible has successfully fulfilled the author’s desire to showcase God’s “never ending, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love.”

Set-Apart Motherhood

In Set-Apart Motherhood, best-selling author Leslie Ludy of Set Apart Girl and Set Apart Motherhood ministries assures women that they can “discover the beauty of Christ-centered mothering.” After defining a Biblical vision for motherhood, she provides practical ideas for developing an ordered flow to the day, creating a welcoming haven, building enduring relationships, and presenting the person of Jesus Christ and His gospel to children. The final section of the book encourages mothers to be prayerful, fearless, and strong in training children to become honorable men and women of God. Each chapter concludes with questions for personal study and reflection in addition to group study and discussion.

Pitchin’ a Fit!

Stressed-out and overwhelmed parents can find hope and help in replacing anger with patience and peace through reading Israel and Brook Wayne’s latest book, Pitchin’ a Fit! With humility and openness, the Waynes, who direct Family Renewal Ministries, describe their own struggles and what they have learned to do—and not do—in dealing with anger in the family. Pitchin’ a Fit! is a guidebook grounded in Scripture, a testimonial to the freeing power of the Word applied to everyday family living.
