Let us draw near to the Lord this month, rejoicing and trusting
By Anna Moore · Oct 20, 2025
November signals that the holidays are arriving soon and the end of the year will be here before we know it. For some, this time of the year will be harder than years past. For others, it will be a time of delight and cheer as we gather with family and friends.
Whatever your situation, the Apostle Paul’s words remind us to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks are commands we are called to continuously practice because, as believers, we have a hope that is eternal—Christ Jesus.
We will face sickness, disease, hardships, and grief in this life, but God’s Word tells us these afflictions are light and momentary. They are purposeful because they are preparing us for an “eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Let us draw near to the Lord this month, looking ahead to the day when all creation will recognize that all glory belongs to Him.
