Noteworthy: As fallen creatures, we sometimes need help

The mystery of why God made our bodies the way He did may not fully be understood until we are with Him in eternity. And He may not even choose to reveal it then!

We do know that as fallen creatures in this world our bodies often fail, and we need help. That help should first be sought from the Lord through prayer (Jeremiah 17:14; James 5:14-15). We ask for healing for ourselves and others, and we also ask the Lord to show us the reason behind the illness (Romans 5:3-4), what purpose it may serve immediately or long term.

But we additionally need to look to the healers and healing methods He has given us in our place and time. As beings made in His image (Genesis 1:26-27), each of us is of inestimable worth, and we should take care of ourselves and seek treatment when we are ailing (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Let’s thank the Lord that He has put doctors and others in our lives to give us respite from suffering, to guide us in living healthy lives for Him and our loved ones, and to be His instruments of healing.
