Noteworthy: Pray even when it's hard to believe
By Ray King · Nov 15, 2024
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.”
Luke 1:13
It is not clear how recently Zechariah had prayed his prayer. The following verses tell us that Zechariah and his wife were advanced in years, so he could hardly believe his prayer was still going to be answered. Nevertheless, God did answer his prayer. It was the means God used to bring about the birth of John the Baptist, who would announce the coming of Jesus, our Messiah.
We should persist in praying to God even when it seems hard to believe that what we are asking for will be granted. God is willing and able to do far more than we ask or can even imagine to carry out His plan in us (Ephesians 3:20).
Nothing is impossible for God.
