New Benefits Ltd. provides affordable, convenient telemedicine

Samaritan Ministries members can now opt out of waiting rooms, driving at less-than-opportune times, and pricey office visit fees to see a doctor. With New Benefits Ltd., members have access to a doctor 24/7 through its telemedicine offering.

For a $38 payment, which can be included in a need, Samaritan members who have set up an account with New Benefits can enjoy faster appointments in the convenience of their homes by seeing a doctor virtually. The on-demand appointments take place over the phone, either by voice or video call.

Samaritan members have access to physicians for themselves and their immediate family members at a lower cost than in-office visits, even when a family member is not in their home state.

“New Benefits is an all-in-one experience for the whole household,” said Felicia Joubert, strategic relations manager at Samaritan Ministries. “Your child in college can call in for the telemedicine, or for prescriptions or labs, or they might need massage therapy. It’s all right there.”

To access telemedicine through New Benefits, log in through the Health Resources tab on your Samaritan Dashboard, or download the My Benefits Work Mobile App on your smartphone. After logging in to the New Benefits platform, users can select “Telemedicine” from the multiple health offerings.

Members should click or tap “Request Visit Online” and select either phone or video call based on their preference. Members can then select which family member the appointment is for and which state that family member will be in when the appointment takes place.

Next, the member is required to type in their reason for the doctor’s visit. They can ask to have a doctor call them within two hours, or they can schedule a specific time for an on-demand visit.

Doctors can give a diagnosis, treatment options, and prescriptions if medically necessary during the appointment. Treatment is available for common ailments such as:

• colds and flu
• sinus conditions
• allergies
• bronchitis
• pink eye
• nausea
• sore throat
• fever
• cough
• skin inflammations
• headaches
• back pain and arthritis
• urinary tract infection
• small wounds
• and more.
