Member messages: Sharing provided 'life-changing results' for young Samaritan member

My husband, Kyle, and I joined Samaritan Ministries after getting married almost 12 years ago. Our eldest daughter, now 10, was born with an orthopedic condition in her feet and lower legs. When we first began her treatments, we stayed local, not realizing how important it would be for her to receive care from a more seasoned and expert specialist for her very nuanced condition. After she received poor care locally, we realized our error, and switched her care to a more talented and specialized orthopedist—much farther from home, but whose innovative and minimally invasive techniques have afforded our daughter life-changing results.

We have seen other parents and children with her same condition denied proper and best care by insurance companies, even little children dropped from their insurance plans mid-treatment. My heart would ache for them during these times.

Samaritan Ministries International has allowed us to pursue the very best care for our daughter’s condition. SMI has quite literally changed her life, and therefore ours, for the better. It is my wish that every Samaritan member and staff member can someday grasp what a gift they are giving to families like ours.

When I think of the very biggest blessings Christ has given in the life of our family, Samaritan is one of the first to come to mind. SMI, again and again, has met us in our place of need. We had no idea what a success it would be for us when we first got married and joined. It felt like a leap of faith, as we had both grown up under insurance plans. Now, with our special circumstances, I see that it was truly what God intended for our blessing and His glory.
