Jobs was glad he wasn’t aborted

Found this wonderful quote by the late Steve Jobs on page 254 of his biography by Walter Isaacson. Adopted shortly after birth, he had recently decided to try to find his biological mother.

I wanted to meet my biological mother mostly to see if she was OK and to thank her, because I’m glad I didn’t end up as an abortion. She was 23 and she went through a lot to have me. (Emphasis added.)

He did meet her, expressed his gratitude, and made her a part of his life, as well as his biological sister. I imagine that such sentiments are common among adoptees.

I have heard pro-abortion people say that it wouldn’t have mattered if they hadn’t been born, since they never would have known the difference. That’s a very sad worldview, to be so cavalier about life and its joys. And it’s ungrateful.

One last thought, especially for pro-choicers who like to use their Macbooks and iPads and iPhones: What if Jobs had been aborted? The digital industry would look very different.
