Jim Taggart named new Samaritan Board chairman

Jim Taggart, who has served as a Samaritan Ministries Board Member since 2020, was nominated by SMI Founder Ted Pittenger to be chariman and unanimously approved by the Board at its February meeting.

“Being nominated by Ted and unanimously approved by the SMI Board to be its chairman this year is certainly a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” Jim said.

“Leading up to the possibility of serving on any board or leading any board, I tell God that I am open and available to do whatever He wants in whatever capacity He chooses. Once on a board, I pray A LOT that God’s wisdom and discernment would flow through in everything I do and say. Those prayers are significantly more frequent in a leadership role such as this! I also love that God uses what I do and learn daily in my ‘work life’ (through an organization called Board Developer) to further His Kingdom as we share one another’s burdens through Samaritan Ministries!”

Ted is still a Board member and, since stepping down as Samaritan CEO in 2021, has been focusing on working with the Board to provide governance and oversight supporting Samaritan’s faithfulness to its mission.

“Having served as the Chairman of the Board since the founding of Samaritan Ministries International, I was pleased to turn over the responsibilities to Jim,” Ted said.
The chairman’s primary role is to maintain the integrity of the board’s processes and lead the board in fulfilling its governance and ministry oversight responsibilities.

As always, please pray for all of the Samaritan Board members as they carry out their responsibilities to guide the ministry.
