Insurance would have wrecked family financially
By Samaritan members · May 26, 2026
We have had so many unexpected health needs we didn’t foresee in the past few years: two surgeries with hospital stays, multiple ER visits, health needs for my daughter that we are able to see a functional medicine doctor for, and ongoing doctor visits and tests for me.
Under insurance, we would have been wrecked financially, but with Samaritan Ministries, we have paid only a few thousand out of pocket. I have also had tens of thousands of dollars of medical bills forgiven and every other bill discounted due to not having insurance. Every time I call Samaritan I cry because they are so caring and pray for us. We love you guys and are so grateful that the Lord has used you all in our lives at this time.

Grateful for healing and prayer support
When my doctor sent me for a scan at the hospital, I had no idea how serious the situation could be. The specialist mentioned liver transplant and continually asked me how much alcohol I drank. I ingest communion wine only. After multiple tests, I called the Samaritan office to start my first need and the advocate prayed with me. The entire process was simple. I received phone calls from the home office to clarify medical treatment, and those prayers were so calming.
My health has improved through prayer, diet, and exercise. The initial cause of the problem mystifies the specialist. At my last checkup, she said she had no idea why my liver had shut down and numbers were now normal. I shared that God was healing my body. The specialist looked at me and said, “I agree!” In a world where faith isn't talked about openly in medical buildings, God used this ongoing health concern as a way to share His hope with nurses, technicians, and doctors.
I don't know what the future holds, but the past two years proved again how much God loves me and wants me to share Him with others. My faith has grown stronger by depending upon other Christians to assist with the bills. My husband has also witnessed the goodness of others as have my children. God provided a Christian doctor who is a staunch believer in natural, less invasive care. I still get nervous at the blood draws but am leaning into God's plan.
It has been a difficult journey, but without this particular path, I would not be who I am today.
