In Prayer: Reign like rain

May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth! In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!
Psalm 72:6-7
We should be asking God to give us godly rulers, ones who will judge with justice (vs. 2), defend the needy from the oppressor (vs. 4), and redeem their lives (vs. 12-14). A ruler like this is refreshing. The land he rules will be blessed just as the rains water the earth. Peace and prosperity will fill the land, and the people will thrive and increase (vs. 3, 16). Let us ask God for this kind of ruler until the true King of all kings returns.
