In Prayer: Pray for our public leaders

Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son. … May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoked for him the whole day. … The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.
Psalm 72:1, 15b, 20
Psalm 72 is the last recorded prayer of David, a man after God’s own heart. The prayer is for his son, Solomon, and it tells us what David was praying for Solomon as a government leader.
How do we pray for our leaders at all levels of government? Do we pray for them to have justice and righteousness? Is prayer for them a high priority? When you are praying, take some time to think about the requests in David’s prayer in Psalm 72, and then be sure to pray for our government leaders.
