In Prayer: Pray for justice, righteousness

Of Solomon. Give the king Your justice, O God, and Your righteousness to the royal son! May he judge Your people with righteousness, and Your poor with justice!
Psalm 72:1-2

David’s prayer for Solomon’s reign as king is illustrative of Jesus’ Kingdom reign. David asked God that Solomon would be given the ability to carry out His judgments in a righteous way. To do this, Solomon needed to have proper understanding. God’s Word teaches us truths and principles that guide us. It gives us a clear understanding of justice and righteousness that we need in the situations we face. Jesus reigns this way. David prayed Solomon would reign this way. Are we asking God to grant an understanding of justice and righteousness to our leaders so that they, too, may reign in this way?
