In Prayer: Pray first, then take action

By Mike Miller  ·  Aug 22, 2012

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you.
1 Samuel 12:23

A priest is someone who represents God to people and people to God. In the passage above we see that Samuel understood his duty to God to speak to Him on behalf of the people even when they had been unfaithful.

Today it is Christians who are God’s priests (1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 1:6, 5:9-10). We have the responsibility to pray for those around us, both for believers and for unbelievers. Jesus tells us to pray even for our enemies (Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:28).

Do you see problems in the world around us? How about in your community or in your church? How about in your family and in your own life? What are your concerns and complaints?

Have you prayed about these things? Only after we have prayed can we do more than pray.
