In Prayer: Making a joyful noise

By Mike Miller  ·  Mar 14, 2012

Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.”
Matthew 6:9

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He Who made us, and we are His. For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100:1-3a, 5

When we know something is good, we usually can’t keep quiet about it. Perhaps we’ve enjoyed a good movie or a good restaurant. Maybe there is an unbelievable sale at a local store. Whatever the case, we want others to know so they won’t miss out.

For some reason, we are often not as enthusiastic about our God. We even have to be told to praise Him.

The solution is not to simply try harder; it is to increase in our knowledge of God. We need to think about what He has done and about what He tells us in His Word. He is the only God—our Creator. He is good. His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.”
