God comforts us in adversity so that we can comfort others

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

What are you facing today?

For most of us, adversity is never far away. We’ve either just come out of a difficult season, are walking through one now, or will soon face challenges we didn’t see coming. Trials are part of life—but in them, God is doing more than we often realize.

In this passage, Paul gives us two truths that reshape how we view our struggles.

First, God is the God of all comfort. Not partial comfort or occasional comfort—all comfort. Every bit of strength, peace, and reassurance we find in hard moments comes from Him. His comfort meets us personally and precisely, right where we hurt.

Second, God comforts us so we can comfort others. He never wastes what we go through. The comfort He pours into us is meant to flow through us. Our trials prepare us to offer compassion, hope, and understanding to those walking their own difficult road. What feels painful today may become the very place God uses to bless someone tomorrow.

This doesn’t remove the difficulty, but it does give it purpose. It offers a bigger vision of what God is doing in and through us.

So today, lean into His comfort. Rest in His presence. Receive what He is offering you. He is not only sustaining you—He is shaping you into a vessel of hope for others.
