We can know God intimately if we acknowledge Him in all our ways

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes the most familiar verses can bring tremendous comfort. But, honestly, sometimes what is familiar can easily be taken for granted. It really comes down to our heart posture in the moment.

Therefore, let’s not miss this opportunity to engage with this precious yet familiar word of instruction. A key word in this familiar passage is “acknowledge”: “In all your ways acknowledge Him.”

It would be easy to treat that word casually, but that would mean missing out on life-changing application. Acknowledge carries the idea of “knowing”—to know someone intimately. It’s not merely knowing information or a superficial acknowledgment, like knowing a mathematical fact. Instead, this conveys personal confidence and trust. We are invited and commanded to know the Lord Almighty, to walk with Him in intimate friendship.

Have you made it your goal to know God intimately? That’s the idea in this well-known passage. Let’s trust Him—wholeheartedly trust Him—and experience His joy and peace as He leads us.
