Direct sharing brings joy, makes connections, saves money
By Samaritan staff · Dec 19, 2017
We pay our gas and electric bills, car payments, and mortgages every month, but when was the last time you experienced JOY when sending out a monthly payment?
There is at least one monthly commitment that has potential to bring joy to Samaritan members: sending their monthly Share directly to another person who is in need.
SMI members don’t send money to Samaritan offices for dispersal to other members. The only Share that comes to the office is when it’s time for a member’s annual renewal.
Instead, we get to make direct contact with those who need our help, or who are helping us.
Direct sharing not only keeps costs down for members, but it assures us of where our money’s going. That’s not true of health insurance, where premiums may be going to support unbiblical lifestyles or immoral activities. Members sending their share know generally what the other member’s need was for, and they know it’s not going to bolster an insurance company’s bottom line.
In addition, they’re not only directly helping their fellow members, but they’re able to make a prayer connection as well. Being part of the Body of Christ involves relationships, and direct sharing contributes to that when it comes to health care.
Members frequently share their joy at receiving Shares, notes, and cards directly from other members, and sending them as well:
We absolutely LOVE that our share each month is going directly to someone who needs it and we get to write letters of encouragement to them!—Heidi
I can truly say it's a joy sending that gift out each month and knowing it's going directly to a family in need.—Joe
I much prefer sending in my monthly share directly to the person in need than to a big corporation!!"—Debby
We do like the fact that our share goes directly to the family in need ... and prayers and encouragement are sent also.—Pam
We know our money is going directly to brother or sister in Christ that is in need. We are not paying the insurance companies monies that will possibly be used for things we do not agree with. Our money goes directly into the hands of the Body of Christ.—Samaritan member
My (ill) daughter is in bed, and I get to bring her mail for her to read. Dozens and dozens of cards from strangers who care! It is huge! It is the only bright part of her day! It has been really really great. That is incredible! Who sends a letter to you to tell you to feel better and that they are praying for you?!—Suzanne
As a Samaritan member, you are the ministry. It doesn’t happen without you. We cannot serve the Body of Christ with the direct, personal love and affection you offer one another as God uses you to provide for one another’s needs.
Thanks for being part of Samaritan Ministries, and have a blessed 2018.
