Board of Directors election results
By Samaritan Staff · Jan 01, 2018
In the recent election, Ben Boyd was re-elected and Jim Taggart was elected to the Board. There were 82,742 ballots sent to members and and 9,546 ballots returned, so 11.5 percent of households voted. We appreciate all the candidates’ willingness to serve, and we also thank Richard Driggers, who did not run for election again, for his many years of service.
Ben Boyd received 4503 votes, Jim Taggart 3772, Pete Avnaim 3297, Jeff Atkinson 2936, Bob Kegley 2332, and Marshall Gipe 1518.
Please note that in 2019 the Board made two changes to the bylaws. The number of candidates listed on the ballot is now limited to six. A committee of the Board selects the six candidates to be listed on the ballot from the nominations that are received. Also, each household’s vote for the Board election is now equally weighted as one vote, regardless of the size of household. Previously, votes were weighted differently for families, couples, singles, etc.
